February is American Heart Month.

Please remember to call 911 if you are having chest pain (do not drive). NSH Ambulance EMS has the ability to perform EKG testing on-scene which helps provide immediate diagnostic information and monitoring for various cardiac conditions. Our mobile EKG capabilities allow our EMS staff to transmit cardiac monitoring to the ER physician while in route.

Post procedure, patients can participate in cardiac rehabilitation by referral from their provider. Cardiac Rehab involves an individualized treatment program designed to help you improve your heart health. This program consists of counseling on exercise and physical activity, nutrition, stress management, and many other ways to reduce your cardiovascular risk factors.
You may be eligible to participate in Cardiac Rehab if you have experienced any of these medical conditions:

■ Heart attack
■ Angina
■ Heart failure
■ Any heart procedure or surgery, including (but not limited to):
    ■ Heart transplant
    ■ Coronary bypass
    ■ Valve surgery
    ■ Stenting
    ■ Pacemaker
