Intravenous (IV) Therapy is a technique that may be prescribed by your provider to deliver hydration, medications and nutrients directly into your blood stream. IV Therapy may be used when a medication cannot be taken orally because the treatment loses effectiveness going through the digestive system, when there is no comparable oral therapy, or when you are unable to swallow the medications or treatments.

IV Therapy is available on an outpatient basis. Orders are required in advance and appointments are necessary to ensure we are prepared for your visit. Orders may be faxed to (218) 387-3270.

What to Expect

When you arrive at NSH you will register for your appointment at the registration desk. Registration staff will notify our nurse’s station that you have arrived. A nurse will bring you to a private room where you will receive your treatment.

While in the private room, you have the choice of receiving treatment in a reclining chair or in bed. The private room has a TV, guest WIFI access, and a private bathroom. There is also room for those who may accompany you (up to two people) during your treatment. After each treatment session, we can provide you with a summary of the visit and will also send the summary to your referring provider upon request.
