North Shore Health is pleased to offer you the opportunity to partner with us and your oncologist to receive some of your chemotherapy treatment right here in Grand Marais.
Receiving your chemotherapy in Cook County will save you and your family time and money while having easier access to treatment closer to home.
How it Works
Once your prescribed dosing of chemotherapy is established, we can continue with the treatment plan prescribed by your oncologist. Your oncologist should reach out to North Shore Health at (218) 387-3040. Nursing supervisor will work with your oncologist. When orders are received, they are reviewed by nursing and pharmacy. Chemotherapy treatments are scheduled as an outpatient service in the hospital. Appointments are scheduled by hospital reception.
What to Expect
When you arrive at NSH you will register for your appointment at the registration desk. Registration staff will notify our nurse’s station that you have arrived. A nurse will bring you toa private room where you will receive your treatment.
While in the private room, you have the choice of receiving treatment in a reclining chair or in bed. The private room has a TV, guest WIFI access, and a private bathroom. There is also room for those who may accompany you during your treatment. Please limit to two people.
After each treatment session, we can provide you with a summary of the visit and will also send the summary to your oncologist upon request.
