Cardiac Rehab Week aims to draw attention to the role of cardiac rehabilitation in reducing the harmful effects of heart disease. Did you know that cardiac diseases are some leading causes of death around the world? Cardiac rehabilitation helps improve health for those at risk.
Post procedure, patients can participate in cardiac rehabilitation by referral from their provider. Cardiac Rehab involves an individualized treatment program designed to help you improve your heart health. This program consists of counseling on exercise and physical activity, nutrition, stress management, and many other ways to reduce your cardiovascular risk factors. You may be eligible to participate in Cardiac Rehab at North Shore Health if you have experienced any of these medical conditions:
■ Heart attack
■ Angina
■ Heart failure
■ Any heart procedure or surgery, including (but not limited to):
- Heart transplant
- Coronary bypass
- Valve surgery
- Stenting
- Pacemaker
