Shondae Adkins Passes Her CNA Exam

Congratulations to Shondae Adkins on passing her CNA Knowledge and Skills State Tests on August 20th! Shondae is now a Certified Nursing Assistant with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry and will be working as a CNA in the North Shore Living Care Center. Shondae moved to Grand Marais this June and started the North Shore Health CNA Education Program her first week here! She is also studying to be a RN. She has been working in the North Shore Living Care Center as a Student CNA (earning and learning) once she had some of those CNA skills under her belt. She completed the 75 hour OnTrack Program on August 12th. The OnTrack curriculum includes 35 hours of online study, 24+ hours of in-person skills lab instruction and practice, and 16 hours of clinical at North Shore Living. The North Shore Health Education Program pays the cost of the OnTrack Program in exchange for a commitment to work in the North Shore Living Care Center for 1,000 hours over one year; hours worked as a Student CNA count. You can start working and earning as a Student CNA once you complete the initial 35 hours on online instruction and tests and after completion of two skills sessions.

Shondae put in a lot of hours, effort and dedication. Thank you for all of your hard work! Congratulations on your Certification as a Nursing Assistant and welcome to North Shore Health. We are so lucky to have you working as a CNA.

A special thanks to Amy James for her role as test observer, mentor and cheerleader for the Care Center, Jordyn Deschampe for her role as the RN Clinical Instructor, Jenelyn Copeland as the State Skills Actor and Mary Tank, ADON for making the initial interview and recommendation for Shondae to the start in the North Shore Health CNA Education Program. And last but not least, thank you to all of you in the Care Center that support new CNAs with sharing your knowledge and wisdom.
