EMT Students Met for 2nd In-Person Skills Lab

Our EMT students met today for their second in-person skills lab at North Shore Health EMS.

We’ve progressed on to not only learning the how, but more importantly the why, behind obtaining a patient’s vital signs.

From blood pressures, oxygen saturation levels, heart rate, and respiratory rates to temperature, blood glucose levels, and ECGs, our students were able to practice on each other and instructors.

Healthcare is full of acronyms and our students are learning the big ones – BSI, ABCs, AVPU, A&Ox4, OPQRST, and SAMPLE to name a few. All of which serve as a foundation for building a thorough patient assessment and treatment plan.

What we do today prepares us for better serving our community tomorrow.

Thank you!

Karla, EMS Director
